we are doing great with the #1 on the potty, unless there is really something that grabs all their attention – we don’t have any accidents there. sam and ben both will run up to me yelling…”i have to poo poo” and go to the toilet-but when we get there-they lose the urge and don’t want to.
i have been told to let them go commando, let them shoot their “torpedoes” at cheerios, and buy a little training potty so they feel closer to the floor. this is crazy….i have explained poop in more ways then i ever thought i would. some say to explain that it has to get out of our body and is like leftover food that gets thrown away.
there really is no reasoning with my children, because at 2 1/2 they are already pros at reasoning. they don’t want to–therefore they won’t. i have come to grips with this and know that they will go when they are ready. i told a friend the other day-“i haven’t seen any teenagers walking around in pull-ups, so i know that sam and ben will get it someday.”

Hang in there Jess! They’ll get it eventually. Nathan still has accidents from time to time. We have learned that when we are traveling back home to SC or to Maryland to visit my husband’s parents that we need to have a pull up on Nathan, just in case we don’t have an exit to pull off on or even a safe place to pull off on the road (which we have done many times.. just aim at the grass buddy 🙂 It spares him from feeling embarrassed if he wets all over his clothes and the carseat, which he has done also, right when we finally got to an exit!! I found this really cute Elmo video on YouTube that helps make going potty fun!!

Well I’ve heard it said you can’t make kids eat or sleep–they should’ve added poop 🙂 Aden held out until 3 1/2ish.
